Violence, Abuse and Mental Health Network

Helping people to live well after violence and abuse
The Violence, Abuse and Mental Health Network (VAMHN) brings together researchers, practitioners, policymakers and survivor leaders working to improve understanding and responses to violence, abuse and mental health.

Through research, collaboration and knowledge exchange, we aim to strengthen systems of support for survivors and ensure that evidence informs practice and policy.
Our mission Join the network

How we drive change

Improving responses to violence, abuse and mental health requires coordinated action across research, services and policy. VAMHN works through four interconnected pathways designed to strengthen evidence, support survivor leadership and improve systems of care

Advancing survivor-defined wellbeing

Developing new ways of understanding recovery and wellbeing after violence and abuse, grounded in survivors’ experiences and priorities.

Embedding survivor leadership

Ensuring people with lived experience shape research, knowledge exchange and the development of services and policy.

Strengthening services and evaluation

Working with services and organisations to improve responses to violence and abuse and build the evidence base for effective support.

Influencing policy and systems

Ensuring research and survivor-informed knowledge inform policy, professional training and wider system responses.
