Sumanta Roy is the Head of Research at Imkaan, national umbrella body with 38 members across the UK led by and for Black/minoritised women and girls subjected to violence and abuse. She has over two decades of experience in conducting social policy influencing research which takes a participatory, grassroots approach on VAWG, equalities and social justice for national, local government, funding bodies in collaboration with academic bodies and specialist voluntary / community sector organisations.
Ravi Thiara is Professor of Sociology at the University of Warwick and was previously Director of a dedicated research centre on violence against women and children at the university. She has conducted pioneering national and international research in this area over the last three decades and also been
involved in policy and practice development. She is a member of the ‘Violence, Abuse and Mental Health (VAMHN) consortium and is a Co-I in the VISION consortium. Ravi has a particular expertise in gendered violence against those in marginalised and racialised communities (ethnicity and disability) and continues to work for change for women and children.
