Internet users' experience of harm online

Overview

Ofcom’s annual “Internet users' experience of harm online” survey is published as part of their media literacy duties. The main objective of this research is to quantify concerns about, reported
experiences of and potential sources of online harm in three key categories:
  • Content that people view, read or listen to online and interactions with other
  • users
  • Data/privacy
  • Hacking/security
The research also explores awareness and opinions of the current level of regulation that applies to broadcast and online environments.
 
The survey is part of their Ofcom’s range of “Internet use and attitudes” datasets, which include other datasets such as:
  • Online experiences and attitudes
  • Adults' media use and attitudes report
  • Internet Citizens
